Dear Committee Members,

I am troubled by the speed at which this legislation is being considered. The proposed reforms represent a fundamental change to how the NDIS operates, yet the time available for public review and comment has been extremely limited. Effective consultation is not simply about providing an opportunity to lodge a submission; it requires enough time for people to understand the proposals, discuss them with others, seek advice where necessary, and consider the likely consequences. Many people with disability and their families are still trying to work through the details of this complex bill.

Given the importance of these reforms and the number of Australians who will be affected, a longer inquiry period is essential to ensure that Parliament receives comprehensive and informed feedback before proceeding.
