Inquiry: The National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Dear Committee Members,

As a family member of an NDIS participant, I am concerned that the timeframe provided for consideration of this bill is inconsistent with the significance of the changes being proposed. The legislation makes substantial amendments to the operation of the NDIS and has the potential to affect the lives of participants, carers and families across Australia.A consultation period of only a few weeks does not provide sufficient time for affected people to read, understand and respond to complex legislative proposals.Public confidence in the process is undermined when reforms of this magnitude are progressed without allowing adequate time for meaningful community input.I believe the inquiry period should be extended to ensure that all stakeholders have a fair opportunity to participate.
