Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing as an NDIS participant to express my serious concerns regarding the proposed National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment Bill 2026.
I believe the Bill, in its current form, risks reducing essential supports and creating significant uncertainty for participants with complex and ongoing disability needs. Many participants rely on continuity of care, trusted support workers, therapy supports, assistive technology, safe transfers, and community access in order to live safely and independently.
I am particularly concerned that the proposed changes may:
- create stricter reassessment and funding barriers,
- reduce participant choice and control,
- increase delays and administrative burden,
- place vulnerable participants at risk during reviews or Change in Circumstances processes, and
- unfairly impact participants with family-supported or conflict-of-interest arrangements even where safeguards, declarations, transparent invoicing, service agreements, and progress notes are already in place.
While I understand the importance of ensuring sustainability of the NDIS, sustainability must not come at the cost of participant safety, dignity, health, independence, and continuity of supports.
I respectfully ask that the Bill be reconsidered, delayed, or significantly amended following proper consultation with people with disability, families, carers, advocates, therapists, and providers.
Participants should not lose access to reasonable and necessary supports because of broad policy changes or administrative cost-saving measures.
