My main concern about this Bill is:

I am concerned about the fund cutting of peoples plans, in particular the social and community participation and capacity building. I think it’s very unfair to limit disabled peoples ability to do things outside out of the home.

This Bill may affect me / people I support because:

  • Limits ability for disabled people to obtain help to go to medical appointments
  • Limits ability for disabled people participating in social interaction
  • Limits ability for disabled people to get help to go out for essential shopping
  • Limits ability for disabled people to improve mobility with capacity building

From my experience I have seen first hand how a disabled person can worsen overtime when they are limited to going outside or getting therapies that they so desperately need.

What I want the committee to understand is:

If disabled people worsen it will cost the NDIS more in the future by needing to provide extra supports.

My position on this Bill:

  • I do not support it
  • I have serious concerns

Because: I strongly do not support this bill because I feel it is very imposing and limiting on the freedom and ability of disabled people to live a normal life like everyone else.
