National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2238
I welcome the opportunity to make a submission to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs about the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026. I am referring to: Supports cut before replacement system is ready The issue: From October 1st 2026, funding has been announced where social/civic/community support services have seen cuts in their budget allocation; specifically, cuts amounting up to fifty percent (€50%) across all participants’ community participation activities, while capacity building daily activities are being reduced at ten per cent (€10%) of total hours allocated each day. These reductions will be implemented through ministerial instrument power outlined within Schedule \Part4\* under Section One Part Four*. Currently there exists no confirmed implementation date or operational status regarding Foundational Supports designed as an alternative measure intended to fill this gap left behind due these changes; as such it remains non-operational and unconfirmed by any means available thus far.
