Dear Committee and decision makers, My name is redacted, a proud Australian that was lucky to be born and raised in this great country, as well as being a proud Aussie; I’m a mother of two: an advocate, carer & your constituent.
My daughter · son are Aussies too! We’re part of our Neurodiversity family. My children registered participants under #NDIS - kindly accept my submission towards Senate inquiry about new NDIS bill! I ask us work together & find practical solutions instead of resulting devastating shortcuts. These proposed cuts dehumanize individuals like me with disabilities into unethical hierarchy deciding who ‘disabled enough’ or warrants more support than others do… It fosters mentality where we compare ourselves creating arbitrary criteria dismissing daily needs just because they don’t fit rigidly… To treat human dignity essential survival supports through competitive checklist fundamentally inhumane. as constituents not numbers on budget spreadsheet burden managed active vital contributing members society. We all Australians these cuts un-Australian These proposed cuts threaten ability live independently participate communities ignore fundamental rights citizens personally means: m10-year-old intellectually disabled daughter mindset year old cannot leave house free citizen most take advantage everyday Not only does she have right engage community safely but cut her support worker also makes risk walking traffic The cuts cut the support worker supervising make sure uses public toilet safe to expose herself self-guards when attempts lift own skirt 10 years old Cuts social and community will isolate imprison endanger both physically socially neurodiverse
