National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment
Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Bill 2026 Submission 2247
To whom it may concern, I am submitting this response as a parent/carer of three children with disabilities. Our family’s experience shows what happens when supports are reduced or become unstable: Children regress; families become isolated again; carers burn out ;and people return to acute health crisis systems . Before the NDIS , our family was completely isolated.I could not work despite having degree because day-to-day reality disability care consumed my entire life.Social connection education supports medical appointments therapy needs meant world narrowed down to my childen their support needs. At one point I ended up in mental health unit due to burnout screaming help overwhelmed. That moment realized we were coping needed real consistent support.NDIS saviour turning point helped family survive start rebuilding. This submission political. It outcomes real people very risk harm if framework collapses timeframe currently proposed. What made possible each My daughter attended redacted That environment had profound impact on her trajectory enabled early intervention “scaffolding” critical stage development.Because those early supports she now has least within family stability did happen chance happened because available enough build skills reduce long-term dependency high-intensity interventions. My son autistic complex presentation My son who is autistic and two rare genetic disorders particularly complex profile Up until year age he full school access therapies crucial hours allowed outside home including opportunities alongside non-disabled peers. He been able grow He attends school days week Those gains matter represent development routine community connection progress functional capacity Without these supports this occurred loss of support hours ability accessing therapies would likely return him isolation missed learning increased behavioural or related risk eldest transitioning adulthood work Eldest also thriving reliance heavy but years ago barely accessed improvement linked being safe effectively implement over time Now entering workforce young adult Progress shows stabilizing not only about today it enabling future participation

Why framework collapse would cause regression for our family
If the NDIS framework collapses in 34 days (or there is an abrupt reduction/cessation of supports), the impact will not be abstract. It will be immediate and practical. I have been offered a job paying $130,000 per year as a carer/provider transport role. This opportunity is a direct result of our family stabilising enough for me to re-enter work. However, am unsure whether I can take it,becauseinthesame34-daytimeframewillbebackathome full-time ensuringmychildren’sneedsaremet—attendinghospitalappointmentsandtherapy appointments, andprovidingtheconstantsupervisionandsupportthatthenNDIScurrently helpsmakepossible.
