Submission 2285 — Name Withheld — NDIS Future Generations Bill

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 2285

I live in , Victoria with my wife and 10yo autistic son. He has been an NDIS participant since he was 6 years old. His NDIS funding has been critical in assisting with his development.

I oppose the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 in its current form.

I am particularly concerned about the proposed functional capacity assessments and reassessment of all plan participants. My son’s disability is not visible and his capacity for daily tasks varies from day to day. I do not believe that a single assessment will truly reflect his capabilities. I believe his treatment team have a much better view of his abilities, given their training and long term relationship with him.

My wife and I spend all of our energy ensuring our son is safe, clean and fed every day. We have very little capacity to address the eating, socialising and toileting challenges that his autism presents. We need assistance from outside our family. We are unable to afford the supports he needs without NDIS funding.

I ask that the committee recommend the bill not proceed.
