e are concerned that the NDIS Future Generations Bill 2026 will take money away from some NDIS recipients who desperately need it.

I’m asking you to please reconsider protecting self-management of personal packages, restoring the appeal rights, and restoring these protections to the Bill.

I have seen first hand the tremendous benefit the NDIS has had, not just on the life of a profoundly disabled middle aged man, but also the sister, who was his full time carer, and who subsequently regained some of her life back. Families who take on the role of carer, are under the constant worry of who will look after their loved one, if they no longer can. She took on the role after their parents no longer could. As we age, our ability to provide the care we believe necessary, diminishes. It’s not just the round-the-clock care, 7 days a week, (3+ full time jobs) they provide, it’s the food, clothing, entertainment, it’s everything.

My friend still spends considerable time caring for her brother, but the burden has been reduced. The time they spend together is now additional support, fun times, relaxed times.

The NDIS is a great idea, and like all great ideas, it needs tweeking occasionally. We know that. But please don’t reduce the hours for those who really need it. The families were at breaking point before the NDIS brought relief, and they don’t want to have to go back to that overwhelming stress caring for their loved-ones again.

Please protect self-management and restore appeal rights, before the Bill is presented.
