Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

My specific concerns relate to clauses:

EM, Section 5.3.2: Budget reset for social and community participation supports: “This measure should not be considered to have undergone specific consultation to date.”

EM, Section 5.3.3: Changes to reasonable and necessary supports: “[T]his measure was not the topic of specific consultation.”

Re: EM, Section 5.3.2: Budget reset for social and community participation supports:

I have over one hundred pages of documented evidence supporting the evidence of my lifelong disability. from:

  • Psychiatrists
  • Psychologist
  • Psychiatric nurses
  • Occupational Therapist.
  • Family Carer. My wife for the most part. She has cared for and advocated for me at a significant cost to her own health
  • Multiple hospital admissions and discharge documentation.

My NDIS plan was approved with significant evidence of my lifelong disability. I have consistently used my support as per the guidlines. I dont believe proper consultation has been done for individual plan needs. budgét revision should only be done after proper consultation has been completed.

My support program has significantly reduced my risk of suicide ideation. My visits to hospital for mental health crisis events has been greatly reduced. In the five years prior to 2023 I spent over ten months in hospital with multiple visits. Since having an NDIS plan my mental health has stabilised and for the last few years I’ve only required about one visit of about four weeks per year. Because of my current NDIS supports I now have hope of surviving with my disability that I have battled my whole life.

The fact that consultation has not happened regarding changes to reasonable and necessary supports could place me at significant risk if these nessessary supports were removed.

Please allow proper time and process to properly consider my support and budget as a permantly seriously disabled citizen. My NDIS plan means I can live a basic safe life.
