NDIS Future Generations Bill 2026

My name is and I live in . I am writing to you in relation to the NDIS Future Generations Bill 2026.

My wife and I are the parents of a forty years old son who was born with a relatively severe intellectual disability. He currently lives in a shared house in Brisbane, as we now lack the physical capacity to look after him at our home. He receives funding for Supported Independent Living, and is currently residing in a shared house in north Brisbane with services provided by a registered NDIS provider.

In order for him to engage fully with society, a proportion of his NDIS funding package is used to go out on a daily basis with a support worker, to participate in various activities. This is an essential part of preventing disengagement and isolation from society.

We are extremely concerned that the proposed 50% cut to social and community participation funding from October 2026 will reduce his funding and adversely reduce his opportunities to engage with society on a daily basis, with significant issues of isolation potentially arising

I respectfully ask the Committee to recommend that the proposed specific reduction in funding is removed.
