National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 2362
Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill
My name is , I am a disabled young adult who has had my quality of life greatly increased by the NDIS, I am able to go places and do things beyond just medical necessities thanks to supports gained via this program
My main concern about this Bill is: That it doesn’t seem to have been fully fleshed out, all the people that will be removed from the NDIS won’t just become not disabled. Instead they will have to turn to other options that aren’t as effective as the NDIS. State level programs which don’t currently even exist having been removed after the NDIS stepped in. Or putting more pressure on the family of those of us who are disabled and cause more tensions and strife. And for those without any informal supports they will be completely adrift. Their lives at risk due to having nothing and no one to stand by them
This Bill may affect me because: - No real alternative that has the same effectiveness level - Increased pressures on my informal supports resulting in housing instability - Level of quality of life dramatically decreasing due to an inability to get out and go places regularly
What I want the committee to understand is: The NDIS has been a massive boon to so many people, myself included and not just those on it but those around them as well. It allows me to have my freedom and dignity in a way I didn’t have before coming into this program. So please reconsider this bill
My position on this Bill: X I do not support it X I have serious concerns
The Bill just seems like it was rushed as a way to try and save some money, something that looks good at first glance yet when you look into it more deeply the ramifications are going to be felt deeply. Lives will be lost and ultimately passing this Bill will hurt more financially than doing a proper assessment of the NDIS finding the actual problem areas and tidying that.
