National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2381
31st May 2026
To Whom it May Concern,
I do not agree with the proposed changes to the NDIS and I do not think they should go ahead.
The NDIS is a lifeline for some of our country’s most vulnerable people. People who deserve to live with dignity, safety, and stability.
It is certain that the proposed changes will cause significant suƯering and harm, and is already causing harm among the disabled community due to the psychological impact of being used as political leverage. The discourse that has been created from this has also caused severe harm and social division.
The public has been misinformed by the media and politicians about the NDIS, and disabled people are being punished unfairly simply for having the most basic quality of life that is aƯorded under the scheme.
I am very concerned that the government is continuing this despite it being advised against by experts and the clear harm that it will cause.
I am deeply disturbed by the government trying to change the rules to remove the right of appeal for participants, because decisions are being overturned at appeal, and changing the eligibility rules to unfairly exclude people who are unable to access all treatments.
If capacity building and community access supports are removed then people will be isolated and stuck at home which is akin to detainment. Disabled people will lack the means to contribute to society and feel they are actually able to live with dignity and purpose, rather than simply existing in misery and suƯering.
These changes will push disabled people, their carers, and families to the edge and beyond, when they are already under extreme pressure. It will cause neglect, cruelty, and there will be fatalities.
People should not have to suƯer because the government makes a choice for them to suƯer, just for being disabled. It is appallingly unjust, unethical, and immoral.
I am extremely worried about the physical and psychological harm that this is and will cause and I strongly urge you to cease these changes, fund the NDIS properly, and stop punishing disabled people.
