National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2432
NDIS submission
I am disabled. I do not currently have access to the NDIS but I care deeply about the welfare of all people, including disabled people like myself.
To properly care for disabled people in Australia I oppose these proposed drastic cuts to the NDIS. There are no alternative programs ready, viable or appropriate for people with disabilities. These proposed cuts will cause irreparable and irreversible harm to disabled people (which I think would be common sense…), obviously, people that need a lot of care, will then suffer and in some (many?) cases die if that care is then taken away. And what do the proposed cuts mean for people who will become disabled in the near future? If it means they will not have access, or not enough funding to meet their needs, then these people will be left to die. The fault will lay with the government.
A wealthy country like Australia must find ways to fund care for all its people, citizens, residents. Taxing the most wealthy is the most appropriate way to fund care. Higher taxes on our saleable natural resources is another way. Please do not sacrifice some of our diverse population as a way to fund other expenses like military commitments. This is not what the Australian people want. Thank you.
