To the Comrmu,

  I am writing to express my concerns regarding the proposed changes to the National Dis-

ability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the potential impact on people with disability in Aus- tralia.

While I understand the need for accountability and sustainability within the NDIS, I do not believe the pro- pose d chang es adequately protect vulnerable Australians who rely on the Scheme to ensure their safety dignity, independence and survival.

 I am particularly concerned about:
  • The potential reduction of access to supports without proper individual assessment
  • Increased ministerial power to change support s and funding decisions without sufficient parliamentary oversight
  • The risk of participants losing essential supports through automatic plan reviews or reassessments
  • The uncertainty surrounding ‘foundation’ supports that do not yet exist while people lose current sup- ports now
  • The narrowing of eligibility requirements and functional criteria for support delivery
  • The unpreparedness of changes may affect high-intensity participants. people with complex disabili- ty and families already under immense pressure
  • The growing fear, instability, and emotional distress currently being experienced throughout the disabled community

I respectfully ask the Committee and Parliament to

  • Pause and properly review the proposed legislation
  • Consult directly with people with cf1sability carers, 54.lpport workMs IIJl!’d heallh protess10n ts, nd advocacy groups
  • Ensure transparency procedural f;:umoss, and human rights protections remain central to any reform process
  • Protect participant choice and control
  • Ensuro no p.arti cipant losos essential supports before altemllttve systems are fully operobon I nd provon eltix:tivo
