National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2554
I am a guardian of a 14yr old with multiple disability diagnosis. For his safety and that of thousands of other participants, please do not pass the NDIS amendment bill in its current form.
Rural participants such as us will be further disadvantaged by this bill due to ongoing lack of services and clinicians to roll out thriving kids and other non ndis supports.
Without NDIS supports I will not be able to work in my job in health of which I am one of a few in the WA country health service. My role as my sons carer is 1:1 which falls to me when he isn’t at school. Without supervision he is a danger to himself and through lack of intent, others.
Choice and control is a way carers can choose supports that best suit those we love in the most cost effective way.
If cost cutting measures need to be done there is more wastage with camps that charge $1800 per 24 hr period, AAT lawyers that exhausted carers have to appeal to for basic needs funding when planners are unqualified in their decision making. My fear is also for the new ICAN assessments being done by unqualified staff. My son believes he can fly- what he will say he can do when questioned bears no basis in reality. If myself as a health clinician worked as outside of my scope of practice as NDIS staff do I would be deregistered.
Please protect this valuable people group.
