National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2582
Please do not pass the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current form. It removes rights, reduces choice and control, and will harm people with disability in my community.
Please can the government take further time to work with the Disability community instead of pushing through this current legislation. Please don’t take Disability rights backwards. We need more time to look through the knock-on effects that this NDIS bill in its current form will cause. Because I know from experience that the states are not going to be able to pick up people that aren’t able to access the NDIS. There are huge cross Border gaps in our current NDIS system that are not addressed in this bill, and if it goes ahead in its current form, I’m concerned about myself being one of those people that end up being cut from the NDIS when the state systems in place do not help someone like me in their current form.
Please take further time to look into the full effects of the NDIS amendment bill. Nothing about us without us. We need we need further information on this NDIS amendment bill, because a big concern is that some of the definitions that are in the bill are so vague, and they give the minister of the power to literally cut groups of people off the system with no recourse. This is extremely dangerous. We shouldn’t be cutting NDIS plans to anyone with a permanent Disability that is significant. Particularly of concern to myself as someone that within the last week had difficulty with the NDIS contacting me by the method that was needed, but they instead called me repeatedly in a black spot area for Mobile reception , if this current bill passes as is , would I not be given a civil penalty of reasonable financial means? Just because I wasn’t able to answer a phone because I was in a regional area?
We shouldn’t be cutting plans vulnerable Australians, then we shouldn’t be removing their rights. As Australians, we should be helping each other. The current bill in its current form is telling the disabled community that the government thinks they cost too much money to exist. I am aware of within social media disabled support groups of people currently looking at the options for voluntary euthanasia, because the government and this current bill has made them feel worthless.
Please do not enact this bill.
Thank you for your time.
Kind regards,
