National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2677
Subject: Submission to Senate Inquiry – Securing the NDIS for Future Generations
Bill 2026 Submitted by: (individual submission)
Dear Committee,
I am writing to express my concerns regarding the Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Bill 2026.
I have family members with NDIS plans who rely on their supports to live a life that most of us take for granted. These supports are not luxuries, they are essential to enabling everyday participation, independence, and dignity.
Through the NDIS, my family members are able to engage in their communities, build relationships, and access opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach. These supports reduce isolation and create a sense of belonging that is fundamental to wellbeing. I see firsthand the difference these supports make every day, without them, the gap between inclusion and isolation is immediate and significant.
The proposed reforms create uncertainty and raise serious concerns about the potential loss or reduction of these vital supports. Any changes that limit access or narrow what is considered reasonable and necessary risk undoing the progress that has been made.
Without appropriate supports, people with disability face increased isolation, reduced independence, and fewer opportunities to participate in society. This would not only affect individuals and families but also have broader social and economic consequences.
The NDIS has been transformative in enabling people with disability to live fuller, more connected lives. It is critical that any reforms protect this progress rather than take it backwards.
I urge the Senate to:
-
Protect access to essential, individualised supports
-
Maintain funding for community participation
-
Ensure people with disability and their families are meaningfully involved in decision-making
-
Safeguard supports that enable independence and inclusion This is a crucial moment to ensure the NDIS continues to uphold its purpose and supports those who depend on it every day.
Thank you for considering my submission.
Kind regards,
