Impact on daughter's medical appointments and wellbeing (Family or carer experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 2678

Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill

My name is , and my daughter is a current participant.

My main concern about this Bill is the impact it is having to individuals and their families by creating fear and uncertainty. The timing feels like a knee-jerk reaction without the appropriate time given to speak to participants, advocates and families.

This Bill may affect my daughter because:

  • Losing funding will impact her wellbeing and independence.

  • Without her current supports, maintaining or gaining employment would be greatly affected.

  • If community participation support is reduced, it will make it more difficult for her to attend crucial medical/allied health appointments.

  • This will also increase the isolation my daughter experiences and negatively impact her ability to attend community events and travel.

What I want the committee to understand is that the impact from the bill is far reaching, the consequences potentially affecting the health and wellbeing of individuals - especially vulnerable participants. The focus should be on cracking down on providers who exploit participants and their funding, as this is where the real cost blow out lies. It is a cop out to instead target vulnerable disabled Australians, because it is easier to do than fight large corporations.

I do not support this bill and recommend that it be withdrawn.

Sincerely,
