National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2681
Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill
Name:
I am a family member that supports a child living with a disability.
My main concern about this Bill is that it will isolate those living with a disability even more. There are supports in place now that allow people to participate in every day life not only attend medical appointments. Disabled people deserve to access social interactions, recreation and leisure.
This Bill may affect people I support because funding may be reduced or completely taken away when there aren’t other systems of support in place yet. My child is in primary school about to start high school and schools are already under a lot of pressure to cater and support all kids. The allied health and specialist support my child currently access with her Level 2 autism diagnosis means that we can work on her skills and goals to prepare her for life so she doesn’t need as much support later in and she can participate in society the way it is designed now.
What I want the committee to understand is this Bill does not address the issue with private companies benefiting from the system, overcharging participants that may not have the capacity to manage their own plans or find their own supports.
My position on this Bill is I do support this Bill because it is rushed through without real consideration for those affected and it only looks to reduce budget.
