National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2718
Dear Government,
I am writing about the proposed changes to the NDIS bill and I am extremely worried for the future and quality of life for disabled persons in Australia. I am a mother of two ASD boys. I am someone who has seen first hand what happens when services and access to supports are shut off with little to no warning. We go backwards! Critical skills that will help them become contributing members of the community need to be restarted. Skills are lost, frustration grows. I myself have not been able to return to fulltime work as there are no community support programs open. No childcare or after school care for 13 year olds who need extra support and supervision. No additional support. If schools need parental attendance it falls to myself already. How are the changes going to support me in returning to work? Support them in future careers? With rent consistently rising, how can I keep them in a stable environment, near friends when I ask for help from supported housing? How is medicare going to cover the extra costs to health outcomes that early intervention could prevent? How is the education cecta going to support these students who already don’t fit into either disabled speciality schools or mainstream but now have little to no NDIS support?
