Inadequate funding and review processes causing family stress (Family or carer experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 2789

Hi My experience of the NDIS has been traumatic to say the least. Its taken over two and a half years of constant fighting and evidence gathering.Mean while, my daughter was left with no support, and eventually after years of fighting we had an outcome. We we’re given a inadequate amount of funding, which appears like it’s helping but in actual fact the PBS and Support Coordinator Funding is woefully inadequate to achieve anything.I feel this is intentionally, so participant and families haven’t got the actual support they need or get the opportunity to be able to fight decisions. They constantly move goal posts so participants and families give up, I actually had a breakdown in the end due to the stress. They aren’t truthful when explaining calls, which are review related. They are prolonging support, even though the evidence is relevant to the support required. If these cuts go ahead it will be at the cost of families actually breaking apart. The NDIS needs to look at the huge criminal history and not punishment the actual people who need the support.
