National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2860
Dear Parliament
My name is , I live in and I am writing to you regarding the NDIS
Future Generations Bill 2026.
I am absolutely appalled at the proposal to remove vulnerable people from the NDIS, and to reduce funding to those that remain.
If the cost of the NDIS is blowing out, I urge the government to audit and make sure the providers are doing the right thing and not ripping off disabled participants and tax payers. It is grossly unfair to place the blame and burden on disabled participants because the scheme is costing more than the government anticipated. There are many other places where spending could be reduced, such as ridiculous spending on defence, and there are other places where revenue could be raised, such as taxing gas exports.
I am particularly concerned about the proposed 50% cut to social and community participation funding from October 2026. This funding is used to make sure disabled people are not isolated, and are able to have some quality of life. Slashing this funding is a real new low for this government. I have worked with a disabled participant on the NDIS and assisted them using this funding for 2.5 years. The joy that it brings this person to be able to go out to a show, have assistance in seeing friends and family, have help accessing the things they enjoy and that make life worth living is priceless. Please do not reduce this crucial support.
I hope you understand that these decisions you are making affect the most vulnerable people. That cutting funding will kill NDIS participants and that is a simple fact. A society is judged on how treats it’s most vulnerable, and I hope you make a decision that isn’t morally bankrupt
