National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2870
I am a person with chronic health issues and a friend and family member to many disabled people, some who are on the NDIS.
My main concern about this bill is how it will adversely affect the livelihood of disabled people who rely on the NDIS to have their basic needs met and stay alive. From what I have witnessed, the NDIS is insufficient as it is – futher cuts will cause nothing but harm, in some circumstances death.
The bill may affect people I care about because they are already struggling to meet their needs and have them recognised by the NDIS at the level they require.
What I want the committee to understand is I do not support this bill and I have serious concerns about how it will affect not only my friends and family but disabled people around Australia, especially those who face other additional difficult circumstances.
Social and community participation support is essential to quality of life for disabled people. Being able to participate in community settings is necessary for maintaining social connection and mental wellbeing. I do not support cuts to funding for social and community participation support.
I’m too tired to write much more than this. I simply implore you to listen to disabled people, the people who this bill will be affecting, and do not cut funding to the NDIS.
