Standardised systems fail to consider individual needs (Participant experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 2896

Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill

Name:

I am a: ☐ Disabled person ☐ Family member / supporter ☐ Clinician / worker ☐ Other: ___________________

My main concern about this Bill is:

Reliance on standardised systems & and large funding adjustments that will not consider the nuance of individual cases and strip individuals of any semblance of individuality as they are viewed as the sum of their diagnosed symptoms rather than allocating them support based around their communicated needs.

This Bill may affect me / people I support because:

☐ It will limit their access to curated and expert support

☐ Leave them reliant on other systems that are not built to support their complex needs

☐ Encourage them to seek alternative care that isn’t in line with medical best practice

What I want the committee to understand is:

That these people cannot be treated like each other, that their diagnosis might be the same or similar their needs can differ wildly and a blanket standardised approach to funding allocation or care will result in Australians being forgotten and left behind.

My position on this Bill:

☐ I support it ☐ I do not support it ☐ I have serious concerns
