National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2907
Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill
Name:
I am a family member of people on the NDIS and am a social worker, working with people on the NDIS
My main concern about this Bill is:
-
It will change how re-assessments and reviews are completed making it harder for people to get the support they need
-
It will create increased administrative burden on an already administrative heavy process and system
-
It will have more automated responses meaning people won’t have their story and impacts heard
This Bill may affect people I support and care about because:
-
It will create a system where they can’t be heard and their lived experience can’t be heard as they have automated responses
-
Their plan can’t be tailored to them and responsive to their changing needs
-
They will find it difficult to navigate the administration processes when already fatigued with the current processes
-
Their plan could be cancelled if they are not contactable when they may have periods of mental health crisis or hospitalisation and still require support.
What I want the committee to understand is that this amendment will have a direct impact on people’s rights and their lives. It will impact on people’s day to day access to support and connection to community. It will have detrimental impact on people who have an evolving health diagnoses who require a prompt action and increase in support which could lead to devastating impacts on someone’s health and wellbeing.
My position on this Bill: I do not support it
