Submission 2929 — Name Withheld — NDIS Future Generations Bill

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 2929

Please do not cut funding to the NDIS.

I am the parent of a Level 2 autistic son who relies on NDIS support every day. The funding he receives is not a luxury; it is an essential investment in his future. With the right therapies, supports, and services, he has the opportunity to develop the skills he needs to become a functional, independent adult who can contribute meaningfully to society.

Children and adults with disabilities want the same things as everyone else: the chance to learn, work, participate in their communities, and live fulfilling lives. However, many cannot achieve these goals without appropriate support. The NDIS helps provide that foundation.

Reducing funding may save money in the short term, but it risks creating far greater costs in the future. Without adequate support, many people with disabilities could lose opportunities to build independence, access employment, and participate in their communities. Families may face increased pressure, and more people could fall through the cracks of an already strained system.

If we want a society where people with disabilities can contribute their talents, we must continue investing in the supports that make participation possible. The NDIS is not simply a funding program, it is a pathway to opportunity, inclusion, and dignity.

Please do not cut NDIS funding. We want to ensure that children and adults with disabilities continue to receive the support they need to reach their potential. They are capable of amazing things when given the opportunity, and they deserve the chance to thrive.
