National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2959
Good afternoon,
I have been provided support work for the NDIS for the past 14 years and have directly seen the benefits of enabling those I support to be integrated into and engage with social and community participation.
In addition to that, with my decades long Personal Training background I am an ardent supporter of the funding for capacity building. With the aid of NDIS funding for my services I have helped to transform lives, which is gratifying on multiple levels and something I am profoundly grateful that you, the Australian Government provides to its’ citizens in need.
I was therefore shocked and dismayed to see the funding cuts in this bill to the effect of 50% to social, civic and community participation funding and 10% to some capacity building daily activity funding. In addition, that these proposed cuts would go into effect from 1 October this year, as plans are renewed or reassessed.
To be honest, it’s unacceptable frankly. Not only for my clients potentially, but for millions of Australians on the NDIS, who desperately need this funding and yet who would have it slashed in a matter of mere months, if this proposed bill were allowed to go ahead, unammended as is.
The NDIS was created to serve the needs of everyday Australians and is one of the societal safeguards we have that Australians and our politicians can be most proud of on the world stage. Please find your cuts elsewhere; or at the very least propose lower percentage cuts, this is not the place to cut expenditure so drastically, especially in light of other future changes to the NDIS, which will likely make receiving it even more difficult.
Yours sincerely,
