National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3018
It is said these changes won’t result in people dying. That’s a lie.
These changes will push more burdens onto families. Those families are stretched and struggling as it is. Women bear the brunt of most caring responsibilities. Having access to the NDIS means supports. Needed supports. Supports to help the individual but also the family so they don’t have to do everything. Changing that will mean people cannot cope. There are no alternatives available. There is no information about what is replacing these supports because there is no replacement besides families. And families, when faced with desperate times and pressures break up. They suicide. They lash out. They act violently.
People will die because of these changes. At their own hands and at the hands of others.
Please listen to disabled community. Please truly codesign. Please don’t make this go backwards. We are barely holding on as it is.
