The NDIS has transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of Australians with disability by promoting independence, social participation and economic inclusion. Reform is necessary to ensure the Scheme remains sustainable, but sustainability and participant rights are not mutually exclusive.
A sustainable NDIS is one that continues to deliver reasonable and necessary supports while maintaining fairness, transparency and respect for the dignity of people with disability.
I urge Parliament to withdraw the proposed legislation to strengthen participant protections, improve transparency and ensure reforms are developed in genuine partnership with the disability community.
