National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3105
As a single mother of 2 children, both NDIS participants, AND an NDIS participant myself. I am APPALLED that this government believes that pulling back the support system that they put in place, and in effect, SACKING 204,000 people as well, is a way to secure the system itself in the years to come.
I could not manage my family and my household without the NDIS. It allows me to have a tiny semblance of a ‘normal’ life, and it gives BOTH my children the same. Taking away our supports, even just threatening to, has caused us great stress and made me feel like a third or fourth or fifth class citizen.
The NDIS meant that I was able to leave an abusive relationship and not fear that my children would lose their much-needed supports. I was able to continue to access the supports they required while unending our lives, in order to be safe. Being a disabled woman, trapped in an abusive relationship, meant all i was able to think about was my children and how I could provide them with much needed safety. Being able to continue to access their supports was undeniably a God send.
Securing the NDIS should not be made at the expense of the system itself. Our Government knows that FAILRLY AND CORRRECTLY taxing the top 1% of this country, along with the multibillion dollar companies that use our resources, would secure not only the NDIS, but dental in Medicare, no gap Medicare and free public schooling, just as a start.
Taking away NDIS funding from those of us who need it to navigate and survive a world that isn’t built for the disabled community, is a clear message that his Government does not care for all its citizens. They are killing us off.
