National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 3129

Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill

Name:

I am a: Family member of a disabled person and close friends with many others with disabilities.

My main concern about this Bill is:

(Write a few words or sentences)

I am very concerned that the proposals in this bill will negatively impact people that are already struggling greatly and don’t receive enough support as is, and that people are being disregarded because they are viewed as a “burden” on the system, when the point of the system is to care for these exact people.

This Bill may affect me / people I support because:

(Dot points are fine)

● I know many who struggle with deadlines as is because of their health problems. ● This bill does not take into account circumstances in which people may not be able to meet their obligations for reasons such as being hospitalised. ● This bill will severely impact people who are struggling with housing.

One example from my experience (if you can):

I have a partner who has disabilities which cause them a lot of difficulties in their capacity to do much outside of maintaining a full time job, and I know that these changes would greatly affect anyone in a similar situation to them needing to fulfill stricter requirements and deadlines in relation to their NDIS support.

What I want the committee to understand is:

What these services need is more funding and personnel to be assisting these people, not restrictions to punish them for their already limited capabilities.

My position on this Bill: I have serious concerns

Because: It is shortsighted and is guaranteed to cause far more harm than any good it pretends it will do.
