National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3287
To the Minister For Health - the Honourable Mark Butler
Dear Sir
I strongly and sincerely urge and request a formal reconsideration of the NDIS Reform Bill your Government recently brought out in the recent Budget of 2026.
*My granddaughter ( I am the maternal grandmother) age 25 has a permanent, high risk, life threatening disability.
*She has been assisted reasonably well by NDIS support to date.
*It has always been an ongoing battle for her mother to advocate year after year for her funding, regardless of the fact that her disability will never magically disappear.
*She has Refractory Epilepsy which is drug resistant. But continues to be on multiple medications. Brain surgery is not an option as the whole of her brain is damaged.
*She is functionally impaired in a number of areas such as, someone has to bathe, toilet, tube feed, clean teeth, dress and monitor her 24/7.
*All aspects of treatment have been exhausted.
-
She requires 1:1 support 24/7 to reduce her life threatening risks, and physiotherapy to keep her strength, speech therapist, OT and Dietician advice.
-
Her mother ( my daughter) has to work to provide for the family and home, and has a small business, employing 25 staff.
-
If my granddaughter’s support funding is suddenly cut or drastically reduced, carer support reduced, therapies cut as is stated in the Bill Reform, then I am extremely terrified of the following outcomes:
-
My granddaughter may lose her battle with life.
-
My granddaughter’s quality of life drastically reduced.
-
Her mother will have to resort to Welfare as she will no longer be able to work, therefore lose family home as she will not be able to pay mortgage and provide a home.
-
Suicide! My granddaughter is a cheerful young woman who suffers greatly but her mother always does her best to give her daughter the best life possible.
MY GRANDDAUGHTER DESERVES A HUMANE LIFE! SHE HAS A RIGHT TO LIFE! NOT
SUFFER SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE IS IN THE VULNERABLE DISABILITY SECTOR WHO IS

DEPENDENT ON NDIS GOVERNMENT FUNDING THAT HAS NOW DECIDED TO MAKE
DRASTIC CUTS TO PARTICIPANTS.
YES get rid of the FRAUD and those RORTING the system. Investigate within the system first.
PLEASE , I IMPLORE YOU TO NOT MAKE THE GENUINE PARTICIPANTS suffer as a result
of this.
This is a crisis for NDIS Participants!
Thank you Yours Sincerely - in Hope.
