National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3313
Hello,
I have several questions and concerns regarding your proposal.
Have you ever actually worked in disability? I have.
Do you have children/family/anyone you know with a disability? I do.
Respectfully, your changes do not help people with a disability. I work in this sector love my position. I have seen SOME abuse the system - they should be punished - this I agree with. I have also personally worked with participants whom I have helped socially
- to help them shopping and for them to CHOOSE their own things, banking, transport, group dancing, meeting others so they don’t feel isolated. Having social interactions to the best of their abilities.
For my own family members, watching them struggle in a social environment without anyone understanding them or supporting them heartbreaking. From the view of care the burnout is real.
Please do not take away anymore funding.
Make it easier to report if people think someone is abusing the system - participant or provider.
Have trained people work with the disability section and community. The amount of times I’ve had participants asked inappropriate questions from staff on the phone has been horrendous. An example of this is when our participant who is a quadriplegic was then asked will they grow out of this! Was then asked - when do you think you’ll be able to walk? Ignorant and insensitive.
I appreciate that money needs to be saved - let’s do it the right way without taking from the vulnerable.
Thank you
