National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 334 - Supplementary Submission

To Whom It May Concern

I am a very concerned NDIS participant regarding the government’s cruel proposed changes.

The NDIS funds the reasonable and necessary support people with disability rely on to live ordinary lives.

Getting out of bed. Going to work. Eating. Breathing. These are things the NDIS makes possible and are a basic human right for anyone disabled or not and must not ever be questioned.

I’m asking for common sense to prevail and for the government to actually understand the critical nature of support.

deregistering shonky providers should be tackled first given The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission aren’t stepping up to protect the most vulnerable leaving us totally exposed to their actions and behaviours which is actually frightening.

The Government has announced it will further reduce the growth of the NDIS. Reducing growth means cutting the support people rely on to live, cutting critical support from participants in some cases can result in a life or death situation and super importantly taking away the rights to have any chance of a life. The NDIS must stop denying participants who need 24/7 care the funding they must have just to live, this tells me they care more about the budget versus a participant’s life which is so disrespectful to the individual and must be stopped pronto.

I challenge Mark Butler to actually live the life of a participant who has a profound disability/disabilities for a couple of weeks to see the impact it has on them, only after that may he actually learn to have some compassion and understanding about the true nature and very real impacts disability has on participants. What he’s proposing must be stopped immediately.

Why does the government keep attacking the most vulnerable when clearly the problem doesn’t lie with them, in some cases the providers and some support workers are the ones who are draining the scheme but yet continually allowed to get away with it.

If this is done by tightening eligibility and capping or restricting supports, people with disabilities lose access to what they need to live safely and participate in our communities.

I am asking the government to please stop attacking participants plans and actually

focus on the real problem areas of the scheme that continue to be a genuine problem, yet never get fixed because it’s all too hard and it’s much easier to attack the participants because the governments fails to address the real areas of concern as a priority:

  • Look seriously into the spiralling amount of fraud and identify why it remains so high, close the loopholes in the scheme

  • Seriously look into all SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) providers to ensure the participants are getting real value for their funding and the providers aren’t simply using The payment as a pure cash grab, a chance to pay off mortgages, not adhering to the guidelines for non-urgent maintenance issues which are clearly outlined in the SDA Residency Agreements and to take advantage of vulnerable participants because absolutely no one is holding them to account, as a participant SDA funding is definitely not providing NDIS value for money, stops allowing SDA providers to not follow NDIS rules and continue to keep getting away with it, it’s truly disgusting that the government doesn’t make this a very high priority to do

  • Protect access to reasonable and necessary support

  • Rule out cuts to eligibility and plan funding.

  • Reject blanket caps that ignore individual needs

  • Commit to genuine co-design with people with disabilities, given the fact we’re real people ot just disabilities therefore we deserve to have our voices heard, we deserve to be respected

  • Focus reform on fixing system inefficiencies, not cutting supports.

  • Always maintain a participant centered approach, not just a BUDGET CENTRED APPROACH at the expense of the participants

I would welcome the opportunity to speak with anyone about my real concerns.
