National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3641
Hi, my name is I am 54 years old and I am a participant in the NDIS. I have been living with Schizophrenia for over 25 years. I am concerned with the changes to my plan support with O T Assessor; Support Co-ordinator and Community Support Worker, Physiotherapy, Psychologist and cleaners.
They have helped me with my daily skills, accessing community groups, and assisting me in my general wellbeing.
I still have barriers in my life, that I continue to need help with. I need this help from allied health professionals and support workers.eg cooking, exercise, medical appointments and shopping.
My mother is elderly and has been my sole carer prior to accessing the NDIS.
If I wasn’t on the NDIS I wouldn’t have had the confidence to move out relieving her from her caring role.
I now have moved into a shared house,
Im starting to get the confidence to look after myself better than I did before.
This has only happened in the last twelve months and wouldn’t be possible without the help of the NDIS.
I am grateful to have the supports in my life.
It would have a devastating impact to lose these supports I have in place.
Please consider the changes that are to be implemented as this will have dire ramifications to lose the supports I rely on and many other participants on the NDIS.
Kind regards
