National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3685
To whom it may concern,
How do I make my plea for assisting those that need help the most in our society. Having a disability and getting help from support makes a difference between life and death.
Funding supports to provide assistance in daily personal care, outings to give a quality of life when individual mobility isn’t a choice.
Providing support for sufferers of mental health conditions to keep them out of hospital and providing them with tools to create an independently run micro business for a sense of self worth and independence. As a parent going in and out of ED for years for support to my adult child for self harming, suicide attempts, I implore you to reconsider taking away the very structures that have allowed her to have gathered strength, a desire for independence and a desire to help others that require support to create a better life for themselves. Professional help is needed at times to secure a healthy mind, body and emotions that become an everyday challenge when going shopping or out to a public place is terrifying and every stresses can lead to a build up to an emotional breakdown. I have witnessed this for years and with ongoing support as I said I have witnessed positive changes over the years and our hospital admissions are reduced to none in the last year because of the support from NDIS. It is our lifeline.
You will be putting families of high risk of deaths through taking away the support provided to keep our most vulnerable alive. Who else is going to be able to carry the heavy responsibility alone of helping a person struggling with disabilities.
I see taking away this help as a crime against those that are most vulnerable. There’s no room in our hospitals APU has closed down in Bunbury. There is a skeleton staff of lived experience staff to address the huge demand of suicidal presentations at hospitals, what’s NDIS withdrawing it’s assistance to the disabled going to create but more people dying, left neglected, cast aside by it’s own government.
Shame on you.
