Impact of proposed bill on a child receiving early intervention therapy

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 3690

My name is and I live in Western Sydney, NSW. I am writing due to deep concern if NDIS Future Generations Bill 2026 is passed.

I have a beautiful 6 year old boy, who has been an NDIS participant for the last 1.5 years. Due to the choice and control our NDIS budget has given us, has received early intervention therapy and is thriving in mainstream kindergarten with his friends. I am also employed as both a Registered Nurse and an independent support worker in the community. The majority of my clients are NDIS participants who are supported to live in their own homes, and without adequate support would be forced to move into care facilities against their wishes.

If this bill is passed, I have great concern for many people who rely on NDIS supports, especially the expansion of ministerial power with budgets and decision making. Hand on my heart, I can say, a minister would only have to spend a day in my house, or the house of any of my clients to know that these people are lovely, caring people who want to be a part of their community as much as anyone else, and they contribute back to society in meaningful ways.

I am deeply concerned that these generalised rules and tightening of budgets, regardless of their intended purposes, will harm those who need it the most. The bill in its current form is harmful, and should not be passed by Parliament.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
