National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3696
To me the NDIS means support for my friends, family, and those in my professional world, who have disabilities.
It means people not being left isolated and being able to contribute time and money to the community and society as whole.
It means knowing that people won’t be left to lie in their own excrement.
It means people will be provided with equipment they need to live their best life.
My nephew, who has a diagnoses of Autism level 2 and brain damage from mismanaged epilepsy, would be on street without the NDIS. Due to his upbringing, he was never provided the opportunities to build basic everyday living skills like cooking and self-management. With in home, community access and allied health supports he is now living independently, working and creating a social network.
I’m scared of the proposed changes to the NDIS Act because I do not feel I understand them clearly enough and I am concerned there are no other options for support available. I am concerned that the state hospitals will be more inundated with underfunded people with disabilities.
I think the proposed changes are going to have a negative impact on society. Dehumanising people with disabilities will only further societal divide. I think there will be a negative impact on social economics.
I am concerned like the robo-debt there will be thousands of deaths caused by the legislation.
