National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3744
Dear Community Affairs Senator,
Please do not pass the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current form. It removes rights, reduces choice and control, and will harm people with disability in my community.
Please ensure with the passing on the next NDIS bill that you are not taking away the rights of people with disabilities to decide who they want in their homes and who is best to provide their personal care, and at the times that suit them.
Making registration for providers who do Personal Support mandatory will take away this freedom for people with disabilities. I have personal experience of a friend with severe physical disabilities who has been able to build an efficient team due to the most recent NDIS bill. She has handpicked workers she feels safe with to provide her personal cares and has trained them to provide care to make her life better.
“Having separate workers a personal account and for everything else and doesn’t work imewise. These people have spent years getting to know what I need and when I need it and whether it’s a day I need to stay in bed and the food has to be made in such a way I can eat it with one hand laying down or it’s one of those amazing lucky days where my body is cooperating and I can eat the food sitting up at a table with a knife fork. I do not want to go back to living of muesli bar six days a week only able to get up one day a week like it was before I had the My Ndis funding under the old system of State base supports and block funding for providers of choice only. That meant somebody else chose who came to my house on land which day and what time. They were only allowed to cook a meal they were trained in so I spent my whole life eating vegetarian lasagne.”
We agree the NDIS needs to be sustainable needs to be fixed. But this proposed legislation isn’t the way to do that. It’s just making life more difficult and not the original intention of the NDIS for disabled people. Which was to put people with disabilities in control of the money that spent to give us our lives.
“We choose the workers your best meet our needs at the times that we need some and the tasks that we need and we get them the appropriate Training if they haven’t already come with that.”
“SUPPORT a bill around my life instead of my life becoming around sitting at home waiting for SUPPORT like it was for nine years while I waited for the NDIS to arrive where I lived.”
Please do not pass the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current form. It removes rights, reduces choice and control, and will harm people with disability in my community.
