National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3761
Hi,
I am 32 years old but absolutely a big Kid at heart and wears her heart on her sleeve. I am from Adelaide. I have many Hidden disabilities my Primary one for the sake of NDIS is L2 Autism, presenting alongside I have 2 eating disorders & 2 chronic illnesses that are absolutely horrendously debilitating, mild to moderate intellectual disability, learning disabilities and mental health issues. I require substantial support at home as well as in the community & really struggle with socialising.
As I wasn’t diagnosed until I was an adult one because i was a female and it is harder to diagnose because we present differently but also my presentation of autism is very internal and is very difficult to actually see which is what makes it more so difficult because I am a silent sufferer. i know what it is like being on both ends with and without the NDIS. All i can honestly say is that like most if not all people who are actually on the NDIS I am personally & genuinely using the NDIS for the right reasons and purpose and I already don’t have enough funding for the amount of care & support i actually need through my medical & health care team.
No one day is the same you you have ok/good day’s were you can somewhat function and then days that are entirely impossible. As far as socialising and being out in the community it is very difficult to be present when there is lots misogyny and lack of awareness, knowledge & understanding, leaving many of us still feeling ConstantlyAlienated and like we still don’t belong and looking for ways out.
The NDIS at least gave us Assurance & security in financial stability a safe guard, Comfort and Quality in the services it provides in care & supporting participants to become as resilient, capable & independent as possible providing the help & care I have been searching for for the last 30 years.
I can’t explain my current situation in words and what all the unknown and uncertainty is doing to me at present. I am constantly thinking what is going to happen to especially once my family supports go I can’t look after myself with in a week I will end up in an EDU/hospital it is a very scary time and I’m in a very difficult place. I need to have consistent and constant support I need a reliable source of support and help to get me through this difficult period + the rest of my life.
Please consider very carefully the importance and implications the decisions you make from here on out and the lives that hang in the balance the impact it will have on current and future generations.
