National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3792
To the Committee,
My name is and I am writing to oppose the proposed NDIS Amendment Bill.
I am the aunt of a young boy who receives support through the NDIS. While I am not involved in the day-to-day appointments, assessments and therapies, I have watched his journey closely and have seen the enormous difference NDIS support has made to both him and his family.
I’ve watched my nephew grow from a child who was often misunderstood into a child who is finally being understood and supported for who he is. The NDIS has helped provide access to assessments, therapies and professionals who have given his family answers, strategies and hope for the future.
What has struck me most is that the NDIS has never made life easier because the challenges disappeared. The challenges are still there. What the NDIS has done is give this family the support they need to navigate them.
As his aunty, I have seen how hard his parents work every single day. I have seen the appointments, the advocacy, the meetings and the constant effort required to help him access the same opportunities many other children take for granted. The NDIS has been an essential part of that support network.
I am deeply concerned about any changes that could reduce funding or restrict access to supports. Children like my nephew do not stop needing help because legislation changes. If supports are removed, families are left carrying an even heavier burden and children lose opportunities to learn, participate and thrive.
The NDIS is helping build a better future for my nephew. It is supporting his development today while investing in his independence tomorrow.
I urge the Committee to reject any measures that would weaken the NDIS and instead ensure children with disabilities continue to receive the support they need.
Yours sincerely,
