National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 3800

To whom it may concern:

Hi,

I am the father of a son who has severe multiple disabilities, who for the past 4 years has thrived because of the services provided by the NDIS. It has been life changing for him and a huge load off our minds, that is his Mum and Dad as aging carers 71 and 76. lives very content in his beautiful SDA home with 24/7 care. He shares this home with one other person and the NDIS Choice and Control ethos helped both families co create this harmonious household along side the Property Developer, Care Organisations, Allied Health Providers and others. It worked and continues to work well. It creates á beautiful home for our two special people. Because of our freedom to be involved as a family in the decision making across many areas the relationships are long lasting. Many of our care staff in house have been there from the beginning in May 2022. Í don’t have to tell you when something works well, it is the most cost effective way of doing things.

´s Mum made a submission on several topics and I would like to pick two different ones to her, Support Co ordination and Plan Management.

Support Co Ordination for us has been a great blessing and the way it is set up works so well for our son and us. Being older, technology is difficult. Also as families we are not gifted with every skill to run a business and in fairness that’s what’s needed. Having the same support coordinator helps so much in operating our plans. I would be lost without this support. I don’t understand the proposed changes and how they will affect different people but without Support Oo Ordination as it stands for us I would be lost even though I ran my own business for 40 years. To alter this service would be foolish and not cost effective. Í don’t know how many changes in this area are being proposed but it works well as is. Having a consistent person is like having the same teacher or doctor over time. As aging carers the need will grow and what about newly disabled people and their families, plus people whose english is poor. Also the ability to choose our own. We have had the same person now for 4 years and she ís beyond helpful and caring. Its essential. Please can I request you don’t touch it.

Also Plan Management works well for our family and we planned to increase this over time as we age. We are presently partly plan managed. To increase makes sense as we will eventually pass all matters to ´s sister. To me it’s a safest way, as well as there ís double checks with the plan management and the participant or family.

Again I would like to thank all involved in our NDIS. It’s a great scheme. Please don’t put

changes into law without consultation with the people most affected, the people with disabilities and their families.

Thank You for your understanding, time & patience.
