NDIS BILL ENQUIRY SUBMISSION
I was granted my first NDIS plan about 3 years ago and it changed my life. If I can look at the past week of my life I have used some funds for capacity building and social interactions that I could not have had without.
Changes to the NDIS means I may lose funding for social access, it’s frightening. My NDIS covers my deafness, however I have chronic health care which is not recognised by the NDIS - arthritis and mental health. This would be directly affected and the impact I fear would worsen my mental health, and in turn my physical health. I worry a lot about my future and if losing my hearing aids and interpreting funding means I would be isolated from the community. I think if i lost my social and community support I would become more depressed.
The utmost fear is the wild number being released by the government of how many people are going to be removed to make the NDIS viable. The science isn’t there and there are so little information. I also have more questions about providers, isnt there a way to look at how BIG business has infiltrated the system V punishing the individuals.
If I lost my funding my husband would become a carer to me, which means a loss of agency for myself. This on top of his own work and obligations. I just want to enjoy my life and my time with him. Why would you change that?
Why would you start changing people’s lives for the worse, when NDIS has been a life line to so many.
