National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3822
What would happen if your social and community supports were cut?
NDIS cuts kill - suicide rate higher - UQ research shows autism life expectancy up to 54 years.
Value of human life - reminder double murder suicide in WA after family funding cut in early 2026.
What would happen if your capacity building supports disappeared?
Single income for family of 4 living in Sydney - parent unable to work for ongoing specialist & therapy appointments, responsibility & supervision for non school hours (IEP - 2 hours 2 days per week school contact).
More out of pocket expenses for specialist reports to prove lifelong disability and early interventions for high needs support neurodivergent teen aged 16 years - Level 3 Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia, MDD, ODD, PDA/ODD/RSD profile, COCSA, extreme school refusal (School Can’t), bullying since preschool, gender identity change, SI/self harm, medications.
Push participants onto other burdened health systems & services eg hospitals, therapies etc (lived experience - gap in teen support services from 10-18 years) - costing Government more in the long run - pushing problem down the track to future when cost of supports & services will be higher and situation worse eg increased addictions, higher unemployment, housing shortages, mental health rises etc. Spend Now Save Later!
Break our family - pressure and lack of ongoing supports will split families already at breaking point.
Future insight - Younger generation unable to afford a family or house - decline in population and now living longer to 100 years (Thank me for prediction later!).

-
One size does not fit all - individual needs - what works for one does not work for everyone.
-
We are living in a different world - please keep up with the times and learn from past not go backwards!
New Framework & Budgets: Transitioning participants to a budget-based framework and updating plan management, reassessment processes, and participant spending obligations.
-
Provide before assessments in a timely manner - not on review date.
-
More flexible funding periods - when supports needed most (lived experience - IEP and school holidays requires more support hours while parents at work).
-
Funding rates for support workers to align with standard base rate set by agencies eg Mable, Hire Up etc (currently gap in award - funding does not cover hours provided in plan).
-
Support workers require minimum 2 hours engagement contract - workers need set hours and job stability - lived experience 1.5 hour blocks for morning and afternoon does not cover it & family out of pocket to engage for minimum hours requirement by agencies and approved individuals (registered business).
-
Please note long waiting times for specialist appointments and long holiday period over Christmas & new year - majority specialists on leave from mid December to end January in line with extended Summer school holiday period.
-
Please streamline process for review and funding adjustments based on individual needs evidenced by very expensive specialist reports (NDIA admitted in February 2026 reports not read).
Regulatory Compliance: Imposing strict conditions on approved quality auditors, expanding NDIS Commission powers to enforce banning orders, and preventing fraud and exploitation.
- What are the rules? Please explain!
- Transparency.
