National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3858
Submission Against NDIS Amendment Bill
I am in community with and related to disabled people and I have serious concerns about The National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment.
I appose this bill for the following reasons:
- increased administrative and compliance requirements make it harder of disabled people to access support
- “Not contactable” and participant engagement rules which allow for paused, reviewed, or affected support can put people in positions of vulnerability at harm.
- Changes to reassessments and plan reviews is a forced sense of rigidity which is limiting, as disability can require changes in support over time
- Changes to how funding for supports can be adjusted treats disabled people as a monolith, not individuals with varying needs
- Increased use of administrative or automated systems…did we learn nothing from robodebt?
My main concern with this Bill is that it is making an already inaccessible institution less accessible. These changes will lead to serious stress and burden on disabled people.
What I want the committee to understand is that this bill is amoral and will have an extremely negative effect on the disabled community.
