Lifeline NDIS funding for essential services and therapies

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 3860

Dear NDIS Representatives,

My name is , and I am writing regarding the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026.

I understand and support the need to protect the long-term sustainability of the NDIS and to address the growing problem of fraud, misuse, and exploitation within the system. Taxpayer funds should be managed responsibly, and those who abuse the scheme should be held accountable.

However, I am deeply concerned that the measures proposed in this bill may have unintended consequences for Australians who genuinely rely on NDIS support to live safe, independent, and fulfilling lives. For many families, NDIS funding is not a luxury—it is an essential lifeline that provides access to critical services, therapies, equipment, and support networks that would otherwise be unattainable.

While efforts to reduce waste and prevent fraud are necessary, broad funding restrictions risk placing additional strain on individuals and families who are already facing significant daily challenges. Those doing the right thing should not bear the burden of measures intended to address the actions of a minority who misuse the system.

I respectfully urge you to reconsider aspects of this bill and to consult closely with participants, carers, families, and disability advocacy groups before proceeding. A targeted approach that focuses on eliminating fraud and improving accountability would better protect both the integrity of the NDIS and the Australians who depend on it.

The NDIS has transformed the lives of countless individuals and families across Australia. Any reforms should strengthen the scheme while ensuring that vulnerable Australians continue to receive the support they need and deserve.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Kind regards,
