National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 4001

Mon 1st June 2025

I am writing as a submission for the NDIS Amendment bill enquiry.

Everyone should be worried about longer hospital waits!

No available hospital beds because there are already 5,600 aged care patients and people with disabilities currently stuck in Australian hospitals without sufficient aged care placements or sufficient NDIS funding to live outside of a hospital, and that number will grow exponentially with the NDIS Amendments planned.

More people with disabilities will end up in hospitals due to injuries and medical deterioration from lack of community access funding to attend doctor, specialist and therapy appointments!

Nurses already have too many patients they care for due to insufficient funding of Health to hire enough Nurses, and Nursing staff are paid lowest in the country in NSW.

More Carers and other family members will incur injuries and physical and mental health deterioration without sufficient support,

without enough time and money to look after themselves, and be forced to care for their family members far past childhood years, affecting their relationship with their family member, isolating

Support Workers

ratio of Support (a second person to assist, or caring for too many people at once or for too many hours) and

Underfunding the NDIS puts the cost onto Health!

Health, Aged care and NDIS need to be sufficiently funded and run better!

With 2,600 people So many more people with disabilities will end up in hospital via injuries, medical decline, or social admissions due to insufficient NDIS funding for a safe discharge.

And more (usually women) forced to leave work and go onto the Carers Pension to look after family members, while their own health deteriorates and accruing no super for old age redacted

The cost of cutting funding to the NDIS will just go sideways onto less tax contributions and more welfare payments (Carers Payments and Disability Pensions).

Cut the NDIS support a person with a disability needs to get educated or get to work =$ less tax contributions and more Disability Pensions.

Cut the NDIS support = more family members leaving the workforce and more Carers Pensions.

Costs just go sideways!

If the government Stops funding NDIS sufficiently, the Government forces family members (mostly women) are forced out of the workforce and onto welfare payments (Carers Pension), while they can no longer pay to look after their own health, do more than anyone should for far too many decades and end up with no super at the end of it, and usually very damaged bodies and stress and worry.

Carers and people with Disabilities are already isolated, don’t take away access to community!

Community Access:

My NDIS funded access to the community is used to have support workers take me to see my doctor, specialists, therapists and for daily exercise to slow down my physical deterioration. Twice a month I see my friends at the Minirail, and twice a month I have lunch with my family.

Please don’t let the NDIS cuts take my access to get exercise and medical help, and see my friends and family once a week!

Cuts to the NDIS = more suicides. More avoidable injuries and deaths. Avoidable physical deterioration. Avoidable mental health deterioration. Isolation. People left unshowered. Less access to sunshine and exercise. Less access to a life worth living!
