I still stand by what I have said in my email to the Senate Committee and other emails to other select Federal Senators and Members of The Australian Parliament dated 1st June 2026.
However, I wish to ask if Senate can look at policies regarding NDIS Clients having their family, a family member caring and being paid by the NDIS by means of allocated Funding Packages for said NDIS Clients to be overhauled and reviewed.
The policy forbidding NDIS Clients to have who they want to care for them in the way of Supports and Care for some of the time and in most cases for NDIS Clients with at risk and extreme disabilities and related conditions 24 / 7.
A policy that focuses on the foundation of what both the NDIA and the NDIS have been repeatedly stating in press releases on behalf of the NDIS Ministers, The Honourable Mr. Mark Butler and Senator The Honourable Ms. Jenny McAllister, this as well as on both the NDIA and the NDIS websites in the legislated policy guidelines where it talks about NDIS Clients having choice and control.
If the above mentioned policy prohibiting NDIS Clients from having Family, a family member to support and care for them when the road taken with perspective Support Coordination Companies and Service Providers along with Support Workers is no longer workable and feasible for NDIS Clients because of the repetitive failings and abuse this on top of the fraud committed by Support Coordination Companies, Service Providers and Support Workers taking advantage of vulnerable NDIS Clients, is this not an extreme violation of taking away from NDISClients their means of Choice and Control? If families are forced to give up work in order to step in to actually support and care for their loved Family member/ members being NDIS Clients due to the massive failing of such supports supposedly provided by the above mentioned, how does the Federal Government and the NDIS Ministers expect families to live and survive in today’s world in Australia with extreme circumstances of everyday costs of living?
If anyone other than Support Services provided through the NDIS that can best NDIS Clients being their families not be paid in the same manner to Support Services?
NDIS Support Services who have failed time and time again, whereas families do not fail their loved ones on the NDIS.
Recently I have been reading of cases where NDIS Clients have had their funding decimated or taken completely off them.
In one case where a young man on the NDIS who featured on the ABC’s Gardening Show, has come to the attention of the NDIS and there has been issues around this and it’s been very concerning as to how this has turned out and the poor man and his family have been vilified online. This poor young man and his family living internal Victoria and probably not by choice either do not have the same to resources to readily access NDIS
Supports Services because there are far and few in rural communities not just in
Victoria but in other states and territories around Australia.
Is this something that Senate Committee can look into and bring about change in regards to such policy that is not favourable let alone feasible to NDS Clients both in ural and metropolitan states and territories within Australia to best support NDIS Clients for the families to be paid?
I have had a lot of negative experiences in dealing with both the NDIA and the NDIS, with contact call centres staff, team leaders and Complaints Case Managers either in person or on the telephone. The telephone is really bad.
As a person with a lifelong disability being deaf in both ears with a sensorineural hearing loss of 90% since birth. I wear two behind the ear hearing aids. My hearing aids are set up in being connected to phone via Bluetooth technology.
I am a deaf person who is verbal and I articulate very well in speech, where it leads to people making decisions poorly in deciding I can’t be deaf as I am stating to them in the phone call when I dealing with the appalling conduct of all staff. This happens each and every time when I call both the NDIA and the NDIS. It’s very rare that I do get the occasional contact call centre staff member, team leader, complaints case manager that actually meet my disability needs and requirements when communicating on the phone.
Despite the opening parts of the majority of phone calls being taken, it’s how the calls are actually answered and it’s pretty bad considering the NDIA is an agency overseeing the NDSIS where as the NDIS is a scheme supposedly funded and designed to help and support with telephone enquiries for Disabled people who are NDIS Clients and both are failing miserably time and time again.
I have had witnesses to calls I have made to or received from either the NDIA or the NDIS, where I spend a lot of time repeatedly asking people to either speak up in a firm voice (as opposed to speaking softly), speak slowly and speak clearly or all three and I am often ignored repeatedly struggling to understand people who continue to speak softly, speak very fast or not clearly. It’s really bad when dealing with people who have English as second language.
This happened again on Tuesday 7th July 2026 when I received a phone call from Phil within the NDIS Complaints Team, he rang in response to a complaint that I had raised in the 29th June 2026, with problem staff and Phil ended up doing the same as these very people that I had complained about previously l. I had spent 16 minutes of this call outside a Public Library in my Support Worker’s car begging and pleading the Complaints Manager to speak slowly, he was non compliant and as a result of my frustration he from what my Support Worker told me accused me of being aggressive
and terminated the call, I then had to call the NDSI and spoke to a Team Leader for at least an 1 hour and 55 minutes, this was most unhelpful too.
Despite speaking with two different Team Leaders on 29th June 2026, they like every other Team Leader have identified that there is no alert on my file about disability, this should have been implemented from the very beginning when I was approved by the NDIS in February 2020.
The problems for me is dealing with staff accepting at face value in that I am informing them each and every time I either call the NDIA or the NDIS. And this is during the struggle which results in a lot of hang ups and poor decisions and judgments made by staff left to their own devices in doing this without truly supporting and understanding People with Disabilities including Deaf / deaf people on the NDIS.
And that’s not all, this is before my NDIS File is accessed.
What is most concerning is this having Complaint Team Members and Team leaders not reading on my file what supports I need to best support me during these phone calls.
This Team Leader told me that the Complaints Manager had closed my complaint without this being spoken about let alone addressed, I never got to say anything in relation to this complaint.
How could I, since I spent the duration of my call from Phil begging and pleading with him to speak slowly to no avail. So for this to happen and be told that a close case cannot be reopened a violation of NDIS Complaints handling process?
The same for the email that I recieved from a person within the NDSI by the name of Meghna. She close the complaint without fully understanding let alone speaking with me as I previously asked the Team Leader on Tuesday 7th July to escalate the complaint and have someone from the Complaints Team. This never happened.
So I am now asking for the Senate Committee is this something that existing policies be overhauled or new policies be created, can be raised with NDIS Reforms Inquiry as this repeated abuses that seems never ending and committed by staff within the NDIA and the NDIS. For new policies to be put in place.
Also look at new policies to allow NDIS Clients to have families / family to be paid by the NDIS?
I thank you for the time in attending to this email submission to The Senate Committee into NDIS Reforms.
I await to hear from you if and when possible.
