National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 4019
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the significant impact these changes are having, and will continue to have, on Australians living with disabilities and their families.
While I understand the need to ensure the long-term sustainability of the NDIS, many participants are already experiencing increased uncertainty, reduced supports, and greater difficulty accessing the services they rely on to live safely, independently, and with dignity.
For many people, NDIS funding is not a luxury—it provides access to essential therapies, support workers, transport, assistive technology, and daily living assistance. Reductions in funding, stricter eligibility requirements, and increased administrative barriers risk leaving vulnerable Australians without the support they need.
These changes may lead to:
- Reduced independence and quality of life for participants.
- Increased pressure on families and unpaid carers.
- Deterioration in physical and mental health outcomes.
- Greater demand on hospitals, emergency services, and community support organisations.
- Increased social isolation and exclusion.
The NDIS was created to empower people with disabilities and provide them with the opportunity to participate fully in society. Any reforms should prioritise the wellbeing of participants and involve meaningful consultation with the people directly affected.
I urge the Government to carefully review the impact of these changes, listen to the concerns of participants, carers, service providers, and advocacy groups, and ensure that no person with a disability is left without the support they need.
I respectfully ask that you advocate for a fair, transparent, and compassionate approach to NDIS reform that protects the rights and wellbeing of all Australians living with disability.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
